Our story begins with Steve Spradlin, whose passion for serving Lake Isabella took root in the 1960s. From running local grocery stores to investing in restaurants and markets, Steve helped build the foundation of this community — not just through business, but through hard work, service, and integrity.

In 1977, he took a leap of faith, purchasing a bankrupt lumberyard and transforming it into a thriving business. Ten years later, he followed his vision to create something enduring and truly impactful: Lake Isabella True Value. By staying independent, listening to customers, and offering products and services you can’t find at the big-box chains, Steve and his family built a store that has remained a cornerstone of the Kern River Valley for more than four decades.

Today, Lake Isabella True Value — along with our sister store, Builders Mart — continues that legacy. We’re proud to be known as the area’s trusted, independent home centers, staffed by a knowledgeable team dedicated to helping you get the job done right.
